Join ArtsGroupie for a FREE Puppetry Masterclass. ArtsGroupie use puppetry in many of their productions, and together with renowned puppeteer Ruta Staseviciute, this workshop will provide some insight and teachings into puppet skills and techniques.
Ruta will also discuss her work, the challenges and the journey to creating the new puppet for A Portrait of William Roscoe, performing at Shakespeare North Playhouse on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th August.
About Ruta Staseviciute
Ruta is a performance designer, maker, and artist with extensive experience in design and puppet, prop and lantern making using a wide range of materials.
Recent projects include creating four public art installations for the Gothenburg 400 Year Jubilee heritage festival, with one of the artworks being used as the stage for the opening of the festival by the Crown Princes of Sweden.
She has also worked as an Art Director/ Production Designer and prop maker on a variety of BFI short films and music videos (Liam Gallagher, The Proclaimers, Leone Lewis) and commercial shoots for clients including brands like Nike and Smirnoff, and Lewis Capaldi.
Ruta has been fortunate to work for over a decade on numerous projects with high-profile companies including Lantern Company, Walk the Plank and Mind the Gap. She has created and performed giant illuminated puppets for various events and parades – Netflix Premier for Over the Moon Film; Hong Kong Arts in the Park; Lumiere Lon.
Suitable for both beginners and puppetry practitioners.
